WiFi is standard and 3G connectivity will become standard as we move forward in time. But there is no disk drive, no DVD drive, a limited amount of connectors and many come with (or without) slots for memory cards. Read more

IPv6 : where are we today ?

One year ago, I wrote in this article that “technology is ready, but implementations aren’t”. So, where are we today then ? Progress is slow, but there is progress. The general conviction is to continue moving towards IPv6. The “internet of things” is still on the radar. Certainly when you consider the spectacular growth in smartphones and tablets. Just a few other examples: the expectation is to have worldwide 1.5 billion electricity, gas and water meters connected via mobile. Cars should become equipped with a SIM card. Read more

25 years of Windows

I did not know (read remember ;-) that Windows 1.0 was released on 20 november 1985 by Microsoft. That is an accomplishment : surviving for 25 years in the PC world. Yep, Windows evolved to what it is today. It did not stand still, it adapted to the new PCs and new PCs were adapted to Windows. Together with Microsoft Office. It generated a serious business, since it not only came on PCs, but also on servers. Great. But what holds the future ?

Telindus Luxemburg ICT company of the year

On Tuesday 12 October, for the 4th time, IT One issued its prestigious ghLuxembourg ICT Awards during a gala ceremony at the Conference Centre & Hemicycle in Luxembourg-Kirchberg. The awards’ main objective is to point out best practices and achievements in ICT market solutions, acknowledged by an extensive sample group of 50 chief information officers of the Luxembourgish market. In the category of “ICT Company of the Year”, the prize was awarded to Telindus Luxembourg. The jury rewarded the company because of its determination in excelling in innovation and growth through a good blend between human capital and technology. The award prizes the efforts done by Telindus Luxembourg in simplifying businesses’ ICT environments through a range of innovative managed solutions around cloud computing and connectivity services.  The services introduced this year are part of the strategic turn taken by the company to evolve towards an ICT operator model and its long-term goal to industrialize its services offer. Telindus Luxembourg aims clearly at focusing further at exploring, creating and delivering value within a customer-centric business model in the coming year.
