Oracle’s practical approach to a health network

Erik Van Hoeymissen, Account Manager Oracle EMEA Healthcare & Life Sciences

Oracle made an important contribution to ‘Infoway’, the Canadian EHR project where every individual has a personal health file from birth up to the present.

erik_van_hoeymissenOracle has the know-how and expertise to develop a services-oriented architecture where the different information flows (administrative information, medical information, medical imaging, nursing information, etc.) are brought together in an e-network made up of hospitals and first-line care providers, transformed (semantically and technically) and integrated in one secure clinical portal. All of the hospital staff can call on the consolidated information in the network via single sign-on user identification. The key words here are security and quality.

Erik Van Hoeymissen cites the example of ‘Infoway’, the Canadian EHR project where Oracle made an important contribution to developing a national health network. Every individual has a secure file containing his health history (from birth to now), which is shared electronically with all of the health players in order to optimise care. This makes electronic referrals, monitoring of chronic illnesses and home care possible. In addition to ‘Infoway’ Oracle is also involved in developing the eHealth platform in Belgium.
