New assault on Microsoft
Something is brewing at Google again. We previously reported on Android, the operating system for mobile telephones (see 25/06/2009). Now with Chrome OS, an open source operating system for netbooks, Google is going a step further. It turned out that Android was not very suitable for these devices. Ultimately, Google would like to make Chrome OS work on ordinary PCs and laptops. Chrome should be on the market before the year’s end. It is reportedly a lightweight system that starts up quickly. With Chrome OS, Google is launching a new frontal assault on Microsoft. In the past, the company has created alternatives for other well-known Microsoft products such as Word, Excel and Internet Explorer.
