Virtualization reduces server costs at Belgacom by 85 percent

Belgacom transferred 3,000 servers to a virtual environment. Implementing VMware allowed the management and maintenance costs for the server fleet to be cut by 85 percent. Moreover, the implementation of new servers now goes five times faster in the virtual environment than in the past. Read more

Belgacom voted Telecom Services Vendor of the Year

Data News Awards for Excellence 2010

On Thursday 29 April, for the 11th time, Data News issued its prestigious Data News Awards for Excellence. For each category, a top three was compiled by 2,500 readers of the trade journal, from which a professional jury then chose the winners. In the category Telecom Services Vendor of the Year the prize was awarded to Belgacom. The jury chose Belgacom because the operator is “the only one in the telecom market able to provide landline, mobile and data services and they continue to invest in new solutions and technologies”. For Belgacom the award is an important confirmation of “the quality of their service and their customer-centricity”.
