Experiences of the St. Elisabeth Clinic in Namur and the Maria Middelares Academic Hospital in Ghent
In the field of healthcare, videoconferencing has become an essential structural solution for meeting the growing need for multidisciplinary meetings, both inside and outside the hospital. At the same time, the rationalization of resources, the workload, mobility problems and the loss of time due to travel are just a few reasons for resorting to videoconferencing.
During the ICT Healthcare Seminar, two hospitals presented their experiences in this area.
Representing the St. Elizabeth Clinic in Namur, Project Manager Sophie Leruth discussed the applications of videoconferencing within her institution, and the methodology implemented for choosing the solution and for its adoption by future users.
Marc Monballieu, Information Technology and Communication Manager at the Maria Middelares Academic Hospital in Ghent, presented the initial results of a pilot project, a first in Belgium, which aims to actively involve GPs in multidisciplinary oncology meetings via videoconference.
