Tuesday July 7th, 2009Belgacom supplies WAN for De Lijn
New network worth 2.5 million
Next time you take the bus or streetcar, we’ll be behind the scenes helping make sure that your bus or streetcar is there for you. That’s because Belgacom recently landed the contract to renew the WAN for Flemish public transportation company De Lijn. The project, based on Cisco technology and with a price tag of over 2.5 million Euros, was originally awarded at the end of 2007. At that point, De Lijn wanted to replace the existing WAN with an MPLS-network. The project was later expanded with an extra dimension. That second segment of the project- linking the storage systems in De Lijn’s two datacenters via dark fiber - was awarded to Syntigo, the IT-branch of the Belgian railway company NMBS. (Photo: S.
